1.Products:

The mud pump liner is an important and easily worn component of the hydraulic end of the mud pump, and the service life of the liner directly affects the service life of the mud pump. The working surface of the liner is in contact with high temperature and high pressure gas, and there are piston rings that perform high-speed reciprocating motion on its surface. This determines that the liner not only needs sufficient strength and rigidity, but also must be resistant to high temperature, corrosion, and abrasion.

2.Classification:

The commonly used liner currently include: single-metal liner, bi-metal liners, ceramic liner, and nickel based alloy liner. The bi-metal liner is one of the most widely used and most used hydraulic end spare parts for mud pumps.

Single-Metal Liner

The single-metal liner has undergone carburization and high-frequency treatment, and its hardness can reach HRC58-62. It has the characteristics of high smoothness, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and long service life, and is suitable for use in milder corrosive slurries.

Bi-Metal Liner

The bi-metal liner is one of the most widely used and most used hydraulic end spare parts for mud pumps. The bi-metal liner combines the advantages of hot forged high wear outer sleeve and high chromium wear-resistant and corrosion-resistant inner sleeve.

The outer sleeve is formed by hot pressing high-quality carbon steel in one go, and the inner sleeve is centrifugally cast from high chromium cast iron.

The outer sleeve has a tensile strength of over 900000psi, and after heat treatment, the hardness of the inner sleeve reaches HRC62 or above.

It can withstand mud pressure of 7000psi, and its inner surface is smooth like a mirror. The size tolerance of the inner hole is strict, and the normal service life can reach more than 800 hours.

Ceramic Liner

With the continuous expansion and worsening of human exploitation of global oil and gas resources, a large number of metal liner are frequently replaced, making it difficult to ensure the high pressure and wear requirements of drilling rigs.

Ceramic liner use three major material systems: zirconia, zirconia toughened alumina (ZTA), and high-performance A-99 alumina ceramics.

Its raw materials are high-purity nano zirconia and alumina micro powder, which are formed through advanced cold pressing technology, high-temperature sintering, assembly, and finally high-precision grinding and polishing.

It has high bending and tensile strength, high fracture toughness, and acid alkali corrosion resistance.

3.Processing process:

  • Outer sleeve: Inspection of raw materials – Rough machining of the outer sleeve- Rough turning of the outer circle – Rough turning of the inner hole – Hot fitting (hot fitting with the inner sleeve) – Boring of the inner hole – Fine grinding – Fine turning
  • Inner sleeve: Centrifugal casting – Annealing treatment – Rough turning outer circle – Rough turning inner hole – Semi precision turning outer circle – Quenching – Non-destructive testing – Hot fitting (hot fitting with the inner sleeve)
  • Heat treatment method
  1. Normalization (to remove internal stress and enhance hardness), insulation at 800 ℃ for 4-5 hours, air cooling
  2. Annealing (softening) at 980 ℃ for 5-6 hours and cooling in the furnace
  3. Quenching (strengthening hardness) 980 ℃ insulation for 30 minutes with air cooling
  4. Tempering (increasing material toughness) 200 ℃ insulation for 60 minutes
  5. Hot charging: Burn at 450 ℃ -500 ℃ for 5-6 hours, conduct 100% full inspection, and cool for 24 hours before pressure testing

4.Precautions when purchasing

When purchasing mud pump liner, the first step is to check the standard size and drawing number of the standard liner. The installed liner must have the same size grouping code as the standard liner, in order to ensure a standard fit clearance.

5.Precautions during installation and use

  • It is strictly prohibited to throw, hit, or impact the mud pump liner. If it is necessary to lower the liner, it must be done slowly.
  • During installation, it is necessary to ensure that the metal part of the mud pump piston and the inner wall of the mud pump liner do not experience any eccentric wear as much as possible. If there is any eccentric wear, it should be corrected as soon as possible.
  • It is strictly prohibited to directly hit the liner with heavy objects such as hammers. When striking, materials such as wood must be padded and gently tapped to provide cushioning.
  • When the equipment is not used for a long time below 0 ℃ in winter, the mud in the suction chamber should be discharged to prevent the mud from freezing and cracking the liner of the mud pump liner.
